A Joyful Christmas Blessing to Everyone

As we enter this holiday season, we have been pleased to see activities around the country pick-up and thank God that we can provide hope and encouragement with our resources to those ministry efforts we feel called to serve. (You can see the areas where we serve on our website: www.1687foundation.com/about-us/).

The newest books to our collection, Pro-Choice or Pro-Life by Randy Alcorn and Total Forgiveness by R.T. Kendall, have been getting into the hands of people around the nation and we would encourage you to request these books to inspire others in your ministry.

In the Pro-Choice or Pro-Life, Randy Alcorn examines fifteen major claims of the pro-choice position and shares fact-based, rational responses. If you have mixed feelings about abortion, as many people do, it can help you think through your position. Randy encourages readers to listen carefully to arguments on both sides of the abortion debate, and to look at the evidence and weigh it on its own merit.

Total Forgiveness is a book for you to embrace when everything in you wants to hold a grudge, point a finger, and remember the pain. God, however, wants you to lay it all aside. In this revised and updated version of the best-selling book, Kendall teaches how you too can experience this incredible freedom as he lovingly challenges you to root out the hidden and hardened places where resentments remain.

If you would like to request these or other encouraging resources, you may start the process by filling out the contact form on our website at www.1687foundation.com.

We wish you a blessed Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of Jesus our Savior and all that He has done for us.

With Heavy Hearts

Dear friends of The 1687 Foundation,

With heavy hearts, we are writing to share the news of the passing of our Vice-President of the Book Ministry, Renee Akaka. Renee served at the helm of the book ministry for the past 15 years.

In August, however, she lost her battle with cancer after a 5-year fight. Renee touched many lives during her time on this Earth and she will be greatly missed. We are grateful that she is now healed and with our beloved Savior.

Renee’s favorite verse, and she lived it everyday until the very last, was: “This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24.

As we continue forward, we want to ensure you that the book ministry will function as it always has. We want to do everything we can to provide hope and encouragement to those of you who are on the battle front.

Debbie Ricker has taken over Renee’s duties. Debbie has been with The Foundation since 2012 and has served in all capacities, most recently as Executive Manager.

Please keep Renee’s family and our Foundation family in your thoughts and your prayers during this difficult time.

In His Service,

The 1687 Foundation

Hope and Encouragement Update Summer 2021

This past year has been a uniquely challenging one for everyone. It gave us the opportunity, however, to find creative ways to provide hope and encouragement due to most of the usual events being shut down. The conferences, where we typically would introduce ourselves to new ministry partners, were also canceled.

Because of this, we began reaching out to ministries and organizations that we hadn’t heard from in sometime. As well, we made calls to prison chaplains, military personnel, first responders and medical professionals who were unfamiliar with our ministry.

We were able to send sample boxes of our books to these partners, enabling us to create new relationships that we may not have made otherwise.

A practical way we provided hope and encouragement was by sending our books to food distribution organizations that were now serving people with drive-through programs.

Additionally, we were able to focus on bringing in some new books that we are excited to share with you. The titles that are now available are: Traveling Light by Max Lucado, The Comeback by Louie Giglio, 100 Devotions of Hope and Encouragement from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, The Case for Christ/The Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel, a compact version of Strobel’s full-size books and All Things New by John Eldridge. At the end of July, we will have available Pro-Choice or Pro-Life by Randy Alcorn. Although not a new story, we did combine the five books from the Dellie O’Shea collection into one book called The Adventures of Dellie O’Shea. Finally, by the end of the summer, Total Forgiveness by R.T. Kendall will be arriving at our warehouse.

Although not directly ministry-related, one of the surprising upsides to this season was it gave us time to prepare and execute a move into a new warehouse. This move has been two years in the planning, finally reaching fruition when we moved in February.

This warehouse has allowed us to bring everything under one roof in Sisters, OR. Previously, our books for large freight shipments were located at a warehouse in Kansas and small shipments along with our administrative offices were in Sisters, creating some logistical challenges so this has been a welcome undertaking.

Through it all, we are ever so thankful to the Lord for the opportunities He has given us to meet new ministry partners and continue to work with those we have known for years. We so appreciate those of you who are on the frontlines for the Kingdom and grateful of your continued prayer support of our ministry as we move forward with the Lord’s mission.
